He was predeceased by: his parents, Lyndon Wilson and Wilda Louise McGee Hillis; his wife Sandra Kaye Taylor Hillis; and his son Michael Hillis. He is survived by: his daughter Michelle Hillis Morgan (Michael) of Mt. Juliet, TN; his stepsons, Blake Crawford (Tonya) of McMinnville and Justin Crawford (Keri) of McMinnville; his grandchildren, Kaitlyn Harper (Christopher), Austin Hillis, Stephanie Bates, Alaina Morris, Matthew Morris, Morgan Crawford Bouldin (Bryan), Rylie Crawford, Myka Crawford, Shayla Bain (Jacob), Ryden Crawford, Aria Crawford, Collins Crawford, Logan Hill (Hannah) and Ashlyn Hill; his brother Donnie Hillis; and his nephews, Donald Hillis (Tish) and Chad Hillis (Leigh-Anne). He is also survived by great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins and friends.
