He was predeceased by: his parents, Vernie Barnes and Lizzie Mann Barnes; and his siblings, Adelle Akin, Shelia Shoff, James Harry Barnes and Clyde Barnes.
He is survived by: his wife Wanda Wilson Barnes; his daughters, Lisa Carter (Mike) of Hernando, MS, Regina Green (Adrian) of McKenzie and Stacy Hardwick (Shayne) of Humboldt; his grandchildren, Shane Carter (Kelsey), Craig Carter (Abby), Joshua Carter, Alivia Green, Logan Green, Haley Hardwick and Wesley Hardwick; and his great grandchildren, Easton, Eli, Everleigh, Dawson Windle Carter, Ledger Rhodes and Ariana Rhodes.
