He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, William Henry Areson, Jr. and Jane Gillespie Snyder Areson; his wife Terry McGuire of McEwen, TN; his son Joseph Areson of Hoosick Falls, NY; his stepson Brennan T. McGuire (Jacque) of McEwen, TN.; his brothers, William H. Areson (Alec), Thailand and Todd Areson (Janet) of Richmond, VA.; and his grandsons, Miles Areson and Liam McGuire.
