We are sad to announce that on November 20, 2020 we had to say goodbye to Opal Mai Watkins of McEwen, Tennessee, born in Waverly, Tennessee. You can send your sympathy in the guestbook provided and share it with the family.

She was predeceased by: her parents, Hugh Dan Hedge and Mamie D. Reeves Hedge; her husband Albert "Bud" Watkins; and her siblings, R. P., Buddy Hedge, Betty Hunter and Margaret Stitt.

She is survived by: her children, Diane Shanks (Ron) of Mt. Juliet and Al Watkins (Joy) of Athens; her brother-in-law Bob Watkins (Louise) of Ooltewah; her grandchildren, Grant Shanks (Leah) of Lebanon, TN, Maigan Thompson (Hayes) of Nashville, TN, Allyson Frazier (Matthew) of Athens, TN and Will Watkins (Chelsea) of Knoxville, TN; her great grandchildren, Ellie, Maggie, Mollie, Mary Grant Shanks, Macy, Mia Frazier, Charlotte Opal, Jack, Harry and Beckett Thompson; her nieces, Teresa Watkins Oxford (Sten) and Vickie Hedge Herman (Max); her daughter Lonnie Lee Stitt Kilgore (Darryl); and her nephews, Curte Carter Stitt (Esta) and Paul Hedge (Bonnie).

In lieu of flowers, if a memorial to her is desired, please take flowers to an assisted living facility, nursing home, or a friend, in her honor.

“I had the pleasure of chatting with your mom last year when I came to Providence Place to visit my mom. After leaving, I told my sisters about talking with Ms. Opal and told them that "She is 96 years young!" She told me that she was born in 1923 and that she doesn't feel her age! She was very upbeat, smiled a lot and seemed genuinely happy. My heart goes out to your family . . . Christina Grisham Elfriede Morris' daughter”
