He was predeceased by: his parents, Vernie H. Murrell and Mary E. Holland Murrell; and his sons, Martin R. Murrell, Jr. and Michael Murrell. He is survived by: his wife Virginia A. Murrell of McEwen, TN; his children, Roger A. Murrell (Debbie) of Shelby Township, MI, Ronald E. Murrell of Rochester Hills, MI and Audrey "Rose" Milliken (Bob) of Gainesville, GA.; his sisters, Jean Freeman of Grenada, MI and Debby Hatcliff (Winston) of Georgetown, KY.; and his grandchildren, Jessica A. Keesee, Jennifer N. Keesee, Sabrina G. Blomquist, Cecilia Wenner, Elizabeth Schlundt and Jonathon Murrell.
