He was predeceased by: his daughter Shannon Simerly; and his parents, Sherman Simerly and Nell Simerly (Bolling). He is survived by: his sons, Khristophor Simerly (Jessica) of Belleville, Michigan and Dana Dowlin Paik-Simerly (Debbie) of Seattle, Washington.; his grandchildren, Dominic Thomas and Bianca Barney; and his sisters, Dion Keith of Knoxville, Sue Hamby of Knoxville and Tammy June Sinnott of Florida.

The family asks in lieu of sending flowers, to please make a donation to the Union County Humane Society in his honor.
