He was predeceased by: his father James N. Dancy, Sr.; his daughter Jessica Marie Dancy; and his siblings, Cleveland Turpin, Carolyn Louise Elrod, Jan Bennett, Linda Lou Martin and Dina Clara Dancy.

He is survived by: his mother Clara Lou Webb Dancy; his children, Jamie Edward Dancy (Christal), Jack Nash Dancy, Joseph Lane Dancy, Nicholas Evert Anthony and Julia Louise Hoots (Timmothy Ryan); and his siblings, Pete Dancy, Robert "Rooster" Dancy, Mary Sue Evans, Judy Ann McNabb and Rose Lott. He is also survived by his 16 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.
