He was predeceased by: his parents, William Shamblin and Margaret Birchfiel Shamblin; his sister Meredith; his brother-in-law Allan Jordan; his brother Crowder; his sister-in-law Geri Shamblin; his sister Edna Margaret King; and his sister-in-law Judy Shamblin.
He is survived by: his son Mike; his daughter-in-law Leslie Shamblin; his granddaughters, Abby and Rachel Shamblin; and his brother Vernon Shamblin. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
