It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Paula (Polly) Bowers (Maryville, Tennessee), who passed away on November 4, 2021, at the age of 84, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was loved and cherished by many people including: her parents, James Albert Cox and Mary Painter Cox; her son Scott Allen Bowers; her husband Colonel Wilburn Rufus Bowers; her daughter Meelora Bowers Zerick (Lori); her grandsons, Sam Bowers, Gray Bowers of California and Tanner Zerick of Murfreesboro, TN.; and her siblings, Judy Harbison of Blue Bell, PA and Jeffrey Cox of Fontana, CA.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make a donation in Polly's memory to either Maryville College, Class of 1958 Scholarship Fund, 502 W Lamar Alexander Parkway, Maryville, TN 37804 or to VFW POST 1924, 1175 Old Stage Rd, Fallbrook, CA 92028.

Both Genie Summers and Polly, women of faith, givers, and servant leaders, encouraged me to look into P.E.O. to support me in my PhD endeavors, and upon completion. I became an educator too! I am grateful for Polly's kindness, gentleness, depth, influence, and wonderful example of helping young people rise to their fullest potential. Lydia Knopf”
