He was predeceased by: his former wife Donna Jean Boring McGill; his daughter Deborah McGill Williams; his parents, John Burton and Jane Mays McGill; and his siblings, Fielding, Bill, Horace, Howard, Dan, Eloise West and Marcelle Lillard.
He is survived by: his wife Wilma Edington McGill; his sons, Dickie (Shirley McGill) of Louisville and Stan McGill of Maryville; and his grandchildren, Josh Williams of Nashville and Michaella McGill of Knoxville. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
