He was predeceased by: his parents, J. D. Bivens and Artie Duncan Bivens; and his siblings, Walter Bivens, Bettye Bivens Burger and Beulah Faye Bivens.
He is survived by: his son John Barnwell Bivens; his siblings, Carl Bivens (Gail) of Vonore, Mary Katherine Bivens of Ball Play, Lola Mae Goss (Charles) and Joyce Capehart (Dennis); and his siblings-in-law, Ronnie Burger of Tellico Plains, Priscilla Gregory (Steve) of Madisonville, TN and Dr. John Barnwell (Rosemary) of Pell City. He is also survived by numerous Nieces and Nephews.
