He was predeceased by: his parents, Rema Sands and Fred Sands; his stepfather Leonard Miller; and his brothers, Steve, Clifford and Wendell.
He is survived by: his wife Judy Sands; his children, Billy Sands (Robin) and Jennifer Lawson (Daniel); his stepson Timmy Burchfield (Angel); his grandchildren, DeeAnna Sands, Joshua Lawson, Kristen Dockery (David) and Megan Allen (Caleb); his stepgrandchildren, Ashley Squires, Alex Squires (Larrissa), Tifffany and Jerry; his great grandchildren, Kaylee Dockery and Malachi Sands; his stepgreat-grandchildren, Emily, Riley, Nora, Noah, Kaison and Paisley Squires; his siblings, Sue (Lester), Carolyn (Monty), Gay (Larry), Sandra, Brickey (Valerie) and Denise; his cousin Larry "Peanut" Sands; and his pet Teddy. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Tuesday, January 14th 2025 from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the Miller Funeral Home (915 W Broadway Ave, Maryville, TN 37801). A graveside service was held on Tuesday, January 14th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the Russell Family Cemetery (1595 Mt Tabor Rd, Maryville, TN 37801).
