He was predeceased by: his parents, Clifford Smelcer and Olive Smelcer; his brother Lonnie Gene Smelcer; and his grandparents, Tillman, Malinda Huskey, David and Mary Smelcer.

He is survived by: his wife Jeanette Hall Smelcer; his children, Melinda Moore (Mike), Melody Sneed and Chad Smelcer (Mandy); and his grandchildren, Mercedes Moore, Madigan Moore, Kaylee Sneed, Eli Smelcer and Ben Smelcer. He is also survived by brothers; sisters-in-law, cousins, nieces and nephews.
