He is survived by: his sons, Gerald Jr. of Rockford and Michael (Erica) of Maryville; his grandsons, Tanner Boring of Maryville and Ethan Hembree of Rockford; and his caregivers, Kenneth and Linda Coppenger. He is also survived by several nieces, and nephews.
