With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Douglas McArthur Garner of Maryville, Tennessee, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on February 7, 2025 at the age of 80. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
In the hush of twilight, as the stars twinkle in silent homage, we reflect on the legacy Douglas McArthur leaves behind and his impact on the lives of his loved ones. Though Douglas McArthur may no longer walk among us, his spirit lives on in the memories held dear by his family and friends, a guiding light that illuminates their paths in times of darkness.
He is survived by: his daughters, Tracey Hawkins (Steve Hawkins) and Crystal Johnson (Greg Johnson); his grandchildren, Autumn Brewster (Logan Brewster), Abby Hawkins (River Jenkins) and Aubrie Johnson; his sister Agnes Romines (Jay Romines); his sister-in-law JoAnn Garner; his wife Susan; and his grandson Adrian Hawkins. He is also survived by his family, friends.
A funeral service was held on Monday, February 10th 2025 from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM at 220 W Broadway Ave, Maryville, TN 37801. A graveside service was held on Tuesday, February 11th 2025 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Old Chilhowee Cemetery (2048 Old Chilhowee Rd, Seymour, TN 37865).
He bravely fought Parkinson's for twelve long years, however, it was time for him to be healed, so God called him home.
