He was predeceased by: his wife Lorene B. Smith; his son Dr. Kent J. Smith; his parents, Arthur Bowman Smith and Norma Singleton Smith; and his sisters, Frances Whitehead and Marjorie Rawlins.
He is survived by: his son David Smith; his daughter-in-law Cynthia Smith; and his granddaughter Hannah Cagle. He is also survived by 1 niece and 3 nephews.
