He was predeceased by: his father Herman Trail; his wife Marilyn "Joyce" Trail; his grandson Justin Todd; his siblings, Herschel Trail, Russell Trail, Kenneth Trail, Edna Davis, Ruth Sain, Hazel Davis and Alta Crosslin; and his pet Barney.

He is survived by: his daughters, Teresa Gannon (George), Loretta Bennett (Donnie) and Tammy Trail; his siblings, Howard Trail, Fred Trail and MaryLee Messick; his grandchildren, Lacey Taylor, George M. Gannon, Dusty Todd (Amanda), Tiera Trail and Tiana Norman; his great grandchildren, Blake Todd and Emery Norman; and his caregiver Betty Reed.
