She was predeceased by: her parents, J. T. Arnold and Alda Arnold; her husband Marvin Smith; and her siblings, Ralph, Ray Arnold and Linda McAfee.
She is survived by: her daughters, Nancy Cowan, Lee Anne Fausz and Marsha Hobby; and her grandchildren, Thomas Whitaker, Amy Cowan, Turner Hobby, Daryl Hobby, David Fausz, Mike Fausz and Laura Smith. She is also survived by 12 great-grandchildren.
The family asks for flowers or donations to be made in Carolyn's name to either the Arthritis Foundation or the American Cancer Society.
