It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Virgil Syms Newman of Madisonville, Tennessee, born in Knoxville, Tennessee, who passed away on January 23, 2024, at the age of 73, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Virgil Newman and Mary Newman; his siblings, Gerald, Johnny, Harold, Ray, Raymond Newman, Janie Buckner and Gail Guffey; and his sisters-in-law, Betty Newman and Mary Ann Newman.
He is survived by: his wife Dora Newman; his children, Tara Melton (Heath) and Christopher Newman; his grandchildren, Sophia, Aubrey, Ethan Newman, Savannah, Olivia and Grayson "Rooster" Melton; and his close friends, Ozzie Webb and Randall Vanhoose. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.
