He was predeceased by: his parents, George Henry Burris and Dorothy Jean Dockery Ammons. He is survived by: his wife Marlene Sue Middleton Burris; his sons, Justin Lynn (Aaron Burris) and Robert Matthew (Tonya Faye Hamblin); his sister Kim; his brother-in-law Adam Locke; his brother James; and his sister-in-law Angela Burris. He is also survived by 7 grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
