He was predeceased by: his wife Patricia Shirk; his parents, Eugene "Buddy" Shirk and Nancy Elizabeth "Bessie" Shirk; and his siblings, Bruce Shirk, Billy Eugene "Jack" Shirk, Jeralene Barbieri and Pauline Ferlito.
He is survived by: his brother Austin Shirk (Marilyn) of Wytheville, VA; his daughter Jacqueline Bennetts; his son-in-law Crawford Harris; his children, Kenneth E. "Buddy" Shirk, Michael (Starleen Shirk), Robert Shirk, David (Christina Shirk) and Nancy; his son-in-law Jason Williams; his grandchildren, Jamie Byrne (Jeremy), Amanda Manner (Kyle), Michael Shirk, Joshua Davis, Jessie Davis, Jacob Shirk, Donald Heil II, Tiffani Heil (Stephen) and Abby Shirk; and his great grandchildren, Evie Byrne, Ayla Manner, Maddex Manner and Callie Pike. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
