He was predeceased by: his parents, John Penland and Ruth Penland; and his sister Alice Penland. He is survived by: his spouse Barbara; his children, John Meek Penland (Saskia) and Angelyn Dixon Penland (Chris Smith); his stepchildren, Linda White Giles, David Raymond White, Stephen Roger White (Susan) and Lawrence Michael White; and his grandchildren, Savannah Jasmine Penland and Eric Stephen White.
