John L. Summitt Obituary
With heavy hearts, we announce the death of John L. Summitt of Madisonville, Tennessee, who passed away on November 5, 2023 at the age of 95. Leave a sympathy message to the family on the memorial page of John L. Summitt to pay them a last tribute.
He was predeceased by: his significant other Joan Holland; and his children, Kristen, Scott, Michael Summitt and Tommy Summitt.
He is survived by: his children, Jeff Holland and Janine Holland; his grandchildren, Jeffery Holland, Jessica Bourke, Sean Holland and Leia Holland; his great grandchildren, Kayden Holland, Jordyn Holland, William Bourke, Jeffrey Bourke, Holland Bourke and Hannah Bourke; his son David Summitt; and his grandchildren, Sophia Summitt, Eddie Summitt and Marisa Summitt.
John, an avid farmer, local land owner, and Navy veteran was always willing to put others first and recently donated land to the Monroe County Airport which will become Summitt Park, a community park for all to enjoy the land he so loved working on for the past 40 plus years. Recently receiving a Proclamation from the state of Tennessee for his community service and donation, John gave his time to many charitable and community organizations including the Democratic Party of Madisonville TN, the American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars where he served as Honor Guard, the Masons and the Shriners.
