He was predeceased by: his parents, Verlin Newman and Ruby Newman; his children, James Lee Newman Jr. and Samantha Newman; and his sisters, Mary Miller and Leisha Mobley.
He is survived by: his grandchildren, Laureen Gunderson, Bradley Watson, Jay Newman and Emily Newman; and his sisters, Patricia Adams and Debbie Heath (Joe). He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
