He was predeceased by: his parents, James Curwood Witt, Sr. (Gloria) and Gloria. He is survived by: his wife Carole Cavender Witt; his children, Mary Butler (Eric) of Knoxville, James Curwood Witt, III of Knoxville, John Bascomb Witt of Knoxville and Andria Parker (Brian) of Johns Creek; his sisters, Kathy Hall of Madisonville and Cindy Wilhite of Knoxville; and his grandchildren, Ansley Parker, Luke Parker, Landry Parker and Valor Parker of Johns Creek. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
