She was predeceased by: her husband Virgil Newman; her parents, Robert Buckner and Myrtle Buckner (Ingram); and her siblings, Gene Buckner (Linda), Colonel Buckner, Linda Faye Brogdon, Kitty Sue Aaron, Nora Nation (Buddy) and Constance "Connie" Buckner.
She is survived by: her children, Tara Melton (Heath) and Christopher Newman; her grandchildren, Sophia, Aubrey, Ethan Newman, Savannah, Olivia and Grayson "Rooster" Melton; her sisters, Helen Leaman (Terry) and Barbara Budds; and her close friend Janet Tucker. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
