He was predeceased by: his wife Carolyn Whitworth Hurd; his parents, William Howard Hurd, Sr. and Betty Rogers Hurd; and his sisters, Betty Jewell Dunnavant and Judith Ann Hurd.
He is survived by: his children, Sandy Sands (Berry) of Lynnville, Betty Oakley Thompson of Minor Hill and William Howard Hurd III (Cynthia) of Columbia; and his grandchildren, Charlene Sands Russell (Bryan) of Pulaski, Wil Sands (Lindsey) of Lynnville, Jodie Lynn Gant (Danny) of Morristown, Evan Oakley Jr. (Angie) of Columbia, Suzanne Oakley (Chris Griffin) of Minor Hill, Alisa Hurd of Murfreesboro, Kris Burton (Shelli) of Lynnville, Kiela Perry (David) of Columbia and Liesha Sterling of Franklin. He is also survived by 21 Great-grandchildren and 1 great great-grandchild.
