He was predeceased by: his parents, Newell Edward Atkins and Mildred Atkins Jones (Bailey); his grandsons, Tyler Atkins and Matthew Atkins; and his nephew Donnie Atkins.
He is survived by: his wife Phyllis Simmons Atkins; his sons, Christopher Atkins and Jason Atkins; his granddaughter Gracie Nankervis; his brother Gil Atkins; and his nephew Nathan Atkins.
