He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Margaret Christine (Massey) and Roy Lee Johns; his sister Edith Percival of Jackson, SC.; his wife Mary Agnes Heyward; and his children, Susan Johns (Mark Felix) of Colorado Springs, Joseph Jr. (Frances) of Wilmington, Margaret Schuessler (Steven) of Wilmington and Elizabeth Toth (Lawrence) of Shepherdstown, WV.. He was also cherished by nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
