He was predeceased by: his wife Edna Louise Mitchell; his son Donnie Mitchell; and his siblings, Anna Lou Thearp, Frank, Harvey, Alvin Mitchell, John Henry and Ernest Ramsey.

He is survived by: his sons, Jim, Terry, Dennis and Clay Mitchell. He is also survived by 15 grandchildren and 33 great grandchildren.
