He was predeceased by: his wife Nancy Browne Maclellan of Lookout Mountain; and his parents, Charlotte Fowler Maclellan and Hugh Owen Maclellan Sr.. He is survived by: his children, Chris Maclellan (Susan) of Lookout Mountain, Cathy Heald (Daryl) of Lookout Mountain, Dan Maclellan (Leslie) of Nashville and Elizabeth Lindquist (Peter) of Lookout Mountain; his grandchildren, Morgan Maclellan (Lisa), Owen Maclellan (Jennifer), Robert Maclellan (McLain), Wilson Maclellan (Tori), Frances Sheffield (Lawrence), Hallie Heald, Hamilton Heald (Laura), Anders Heald, Louisa Roberts (Bradley), Lee Lee Heald, Bella Heald, Lucy Heald, Charlie Heald, Hannah Williams (Khari), John Daniel Maclellan, Nic Maclellan, Cate Maclellan, Jake Lindquist, Hannah Lindquist, Meredith Lindquist, Catherine Lindquist and Ellie Lindquist; his great grandchildren, Charlotte Maclellan, William Maclellan, Helen Maclellan, Peter Maclellan, Mary Charles Maclellan, Margot Maclellan, Beau Purgason, Jackson Purgason, Stevie Purgason, Liza Maclellan, Gray Sheffield, Lottie Sheffield and Wilder Heald; and his sister Charlotte Ann Heffner of Atlanta.
Visitation was held on Saturday, April 26th 2025 from 10:30 AM to 12:00 PM at the Lookout Mountain Presbyterian Church (316 N Bragg Ave, Lookout Mountain, TN 37350). A memorial service was held on Saturday, April 26th 2025 at 12:00 PM at the same location.
In 1987, he became president of the Maclellan Foundation and devoted the remainder of his vocational life to leading it with clarity, conviction, and purpose.
