He was predeceased by: his parents, William Nelson and Hazel Nelson (Cooper); and his sister Marita Hasyn. He is survived by: his wife Marie; his children, Darryl Nelson (Diana Strong) of Gaines, Brenda Torres (Hector) of Oregon, Alleine Calhoun (Lance) of Arkansas, Cathy Mattingly (Lewis) of North Carolina, Cheryl Jovanovich (John) of Oregon, Pamela Anderson (George) of Cedar Springs, Monica Linden (Troy) of Morenci, Angela Hovind of Davison and Nellie Tricia Klug (Kris) of Howell; and his siblings, William "Cliff" Nelson (Katherine) of Durand and Josephine Margarite Martin of Perry. He is also survived by 22 grandchildren and many great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, those desiring may make contributions to the American Cancer Society or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
