He was predeceased by: his parents, David M. Thornburg and Ora Mae Carrol Thornburg; his wife Serilda Ann Hunt Thornburg; his granddaughters, Amanda Emily Smith and Jessica Denise Thornburg; and his siblings, Harold, Maynard, Lillard, Boyd Thornburg and Rosa Lee Cox.
He is survived by: his children, Tom (Paige Thornburg), Wesley Thornburg, Wade (Laura Thornburg), Ora Mae Byington and Lesley (Terry Metcalf); and his grandchildren, Nekisha (Tommy Darnell), Heather Day, Terry Metcalf Jr., Preston (Karissa Thornburg), Megan (Dustin Thacker), Amanda Harrison, Xavier Tuggle, Levi Thornburg, Brooklyn Thornburg and Nikki Copas. He is also survived by twenty great grandchildren, one great great grandchild, and several nieces and nephews.
