He was predeceased by: his parents, Charlie Amos and Minnie Exie Johnson Hart; and his brothers, Charlie "Jack" Hart, Chabbie Alton Hart and Billy Wayne Hart.

He is survived by: his son Jerry Nicks; his siblings, Randy Hart (Pam), Lillie O'Brien (Larry), Shirley Austin (Butch) and Brenda Bohannon (Robert); and his granddaughters, Brittany and Autumn. He is also survived by four great grandchildren.
