He was predeceased by: his parents, Alice Hardison Murphy of Virginia and William Ervin Murphy; and his siblings, Debra Murphy of Virginia, David Eugene, Herman Allen, Robert Payne and Eric Jacob Murphy.
He is survived by: his wife Carol Ann; his sons, John Russell Murphy Jr. and David Glen Murphy; his grandchildren, Daisha B. and Daemani K. Murphy; his sisters, Maudlean Robinson of Montclair, Rosetta Price of Newport News and Delores Faye Marshall; his brother-in-law Warren Marshall (Zera); and his brothers, William Murphy Jr. (Sarah D.), Charles Anthony of Lewisburg, Stanley Douglas of Nashville and James Sewell (Tammi) of Knoxville. He is also survived by other nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
Masks and social distancing will be required to enter the facilities.
