He was predeceased by: his parents, James Artemus and Edna Vera Nightingale Cheney; and his wife Mary Ella Rinks Cheney. He is survived by: his daughter Beverly Turner (James Gray) of Columbia, TN; and his grandchildren, Mavis Marie Turner, Tara Colleen Turner and Clayton Cheney Turner.

The family suggests memorials be made to the American Cancer Society, A Local Food Bank, or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
