He was predeceased by: his parents, Marie Johnson Kriel and Emile Kriel; his wife Jean; and his brother George Kriel. He is survived by: his children, Paula Armstrong (Joe), Mark Kriel, Wayne Kriel (Kim), Brian Kriel (Lisa), Bobby Woolard (Anita), Jimmie Lynn Maynard and Regina Lackey. He is also survived by numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Mr. Kriel made many contributions to his home city of Louisville KY and in 2020 received the Award for Outstanding Citizen.
