He was predeceased by: his parents, James Grover and Alice Marie Newman; his son Joey Newman; his stepdaughter Shawna Jennings; his brothers, Jerry David Newman and John "J. G." Newman (Brenda); his brothers-in-law, Raymond Neely, Eddie Greer, Mark Greer and Eddie McCrary; and his nephew Josh Smith.
He is survived by: his wife Pat Newman; his daughter Jo Leia Donnese Osborne; his sister Judy McCrary; his siblings-in-law, Wesley Neely (Pam) and Teresa Smith; his stepson Michael Beadle; and his close friends, Bernice, Robert Gipson, Tony Dunsavage, Allen Funderburke and Jed Leep. He is also survived by 7 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and other loving family and friends.
In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made to Ministry Center Church of God, 1007 Hartsville Pike, Lebanon, TN 37087 in Joe's memory.
