He was predeceased by: his parents, Herman Ray and Ida Blair Ray; his son Bobby Ray; and his siblings, Herman Blair Ray, Barry Allen Ray and Minnie Jo Ray.
He is survived by: his wife Patricia Ann Burdine Ray; his son Allen Ray (Wendy); his brothers, Jim Ray and Charlie Dean Ray; his grandchildren, Jake Ray, Sarah Warnick (Evan), Blake Ray and Brandie Massey; and his great grandchildren, Kamden Ray, Kolby Ray and Nolan Warnick.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Vanderbilt Heart Center.
