He was predeceased by: his parents, Tommie Caruthers and Mattie Caruthers; his son Jerry Collier; and his siblings, Vernie Caruthers, Bessie Louise Wilkerson and Mary Tom Caruthers.

He is survived by: his niece Linda Cobbins; his great-nephews, Chris Wilkerson and Nathan Wilkerson; and his cousin Betty Liles.
