She was predeceased by: her parents, John Wesley and Mattie Lou Mitchell Forsythe; her former husband Edison Slaton; her husband Claude Kelley; her sons, Barry Wayne Slaton, Ronnie Lynn Slaton and Jimmie Ray Slaton; her son-in-law Louis R. Karling; and her siblings, Homer Forsythe, Herbert Forsythe, Doyce Forsythe, Pauline Forsythe, Bessie Davis, Willie Olivia Cole and Carol Sue Hammonds. She is also survived by several grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
The family suggests memorials be made to Immanuel Baptist Church.
