She was predeceased by: her husband Thomas L. Johnston; her parents, Charles Hooper and Bertha Hughes Porter; her siblings, Bill Porter, John Porter, Clyde Porter, Clara White, Ethel Smith, Inez Smith and Mildred Walker; and her grandson Darrell Smith.
She is survived by: her children, Tom Johnston (Retha), Bob Johnston (Carol), Linda Sue Smith and Gwen Gilliam (Donnie); and her brothers, Cecil Porter and David Porter. She is also survived by 15 Grandchildren, 31 Great Grandchildren, 4 Great Great Grandchildren.
