He was predeceased by: his parents, Willie N. Markus and Viola Davis Markus; his wife Mary L. Clifton Markus; his daughter Linda Morphew; and his siblings, Edward Markus, Willie Neal Markus, Jr., Charlie Cleveland Markus, Iva Neal Markus and Mabel McGee.
He is survived by: his daughters, Jamie Williams (Mike) of Murfreesboro, TN and Gale Littrell (Allen) of Lawrenceburg, TN; his sisters, Neva Smith of Franklin, TN, Mary Andrews of Lawrenceburg, TN and Kathy Barton of Noblesville, IN; and his grandchildren, David Morphew, Daniel Morphew, Christopher Allen Littrell, Leighann Corcoran, Adam Littrell, Jenna Littrell, Sarah Carter and Benjamin Williams. He is also survived by twenty-four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
