He was predeceased by: his wife Mary Ann Clements Karnes; his parents, Watson Karnes and Frances Calvin Karnes; his siblings, Reba Ward, Evelyn Guy, Betty Jones, Alice Ezell and Tommy Karnes; and his son-in-law Randall R. "Randy" Baskin, Jr..
He is survived by: his children, James C. Karnes (Lynn), Timothy A. Karnes (Sheila), Nancy K. Smith (Mont) and Tammy Baskin; his grandchildren, Jessica Lowe (David), Jennifer Davis, Randall R. III, James Baskin (Antonio Compton) and Stefan Baskin (Taylor Richardson); and his brother-in-law Howard D. Isom (Jeannie). He is also survived by six great grandchildren and four great great grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to Hiram Lodge #7 or Shriners Children's Hospital.
