He was predeceased by: his parents, Everett Hayes and Wonnie Rochester Hayes; and his brother Glenn Hayes. He is survived by: his wife Kathy Hayes; his children, Lanette Hayes McNutt (Brent) of Lawrenceburg and Brett Hayes (Mona) of Knoxville; his grandchildren, Tori Kelso (Colt), Holly McNutt, Hayes McNutt, Sydney Hayes and Sadie Hayes; his great grandchild Iris Kelso; and his sister Laverne Hayes Oxford.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Coleman Memorial United Methodist Church.
