She was predeceased by: her parents, Edgar Murdock and Laurine Murdock (Welch); her sisters, Joyce Richards, Marian McCullough and Regenia Murdock; and her nephew Thomas Earl Richards.

She is survived by: her husband James Thomas Smythe (Jim) of Lascassas, TN; her children, Jeffrey Smythe (Patricia) of Hendersonville, TN, Jill Smythe Lumsden (Chris Lumsden) of Murfreesboro, Jennifer Smythe of Murfreesboro and Jason Smythe of Murfreesboro; her grandchildren, Jessica Holt (Wally), Warren Smythe, Benjamin Poteet, Amanda Poteet, Parker Smythe, John Lumsden (Kaitlyn), Julia Davis, Jackson Smythe, Andrew Lumsden, Isabella Smythe, James C. Smythe, Carter Smythe and Weston Smythe; her great grandchildren, Jaiden Young, Landen Holt, Monty Escue, Lyra Escue and Gretchen Tayler Poteet; her sisters, Faye Polly (Doug) of Titusville, FL, Linda Murdock Crosslin of Smyrna, TN and Zana Puckett (David) of Murfreesboro; her friend Joshua Layne; and her grandson Jaiden Young.
