He was predeceased by: his parents, Edward Stephens of Washington and Mary Frost Stephens; and his sisters, Rebecca Dennis and Nancy Howell. He is survived by: his wife Carol Boyd Stephens; his children, William Thomas Stephens, Jr., Heather Stephens, Edward Stephens (Jane), Greensboro and Holly Shoun (Michael); and his grandchildren, Hannah James (Michael), Rachel Ann Stephens, Margaret McKinney, Jack Stephens, Charlie Stephens, Lilly Stephens, Macie Shoun, Parker Shoun and Mia Shoun.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made in memory of Tom to the Elizabethton-- Carter County Animal Shelter, 253 Sycamore Shoals Drive, Elizabethton, Tenn. 37643.
