He was predeceased by: his parents, Ernest Rutherford and Ruby Rutherford (Hatmaker); his grandchildren, Christopher Hammond and Natasha Hope Hammond; his great grandchildren, Banks and Baker Simpson; and his sister Mildred Massengill.
He is survived by: his wife Doris Rutherford of Duff; his children, Michael Rutherford (Jennifer) of Duff, Tammy Allen of Jacksboro, Michelle Rutherford of Sevierville and Linda Fraze of Habersham; his son-in-law Michael Hunt of Alabama; and his siblings, Harold Dean Rutherford (Mary) of Habersham and Brenda Hamilton of LaFollette. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
Visitation was held on Monday, December 30th 2024 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Martin Wilson Funeral Home (305 E Beech St, LaFollette, TN 37766). A funeral service was held on Monday, December 30th 2024 at 7:00 PM at the same location. The military honors was held on Tuesday, December 31st 2024 at 2:00 PM at the Powell Valley Cemetery.
