He was predeceased by: his parents, John Underwood Jr. and Beatrice Underwood (Tracy); his wife Shelia A. Underwood; and his siblings, Thomas Underwood and Mary Hart.
He is survived by: his sons, John A. Underwood IV (Dawn) and Joseph A. Underwood (Christina); the mother of his children Charolette Funkhouser; his grandchildren, John, Brielle, Riley Ann, Arden and Mallory; and his close friends, Betty Aiken and Tammy Blankenship.
