He is survived by: his parents, Bill Speck and Liz Speck; his sister Stacye; his brother-in-law Tim Collins; his niece Brooke Collins; his nephew Trenton Collins; and his close friends, Robert Reid and Adam Swindle.

“I am saddened to read the news of Steve's passing. I knew Steve through 4-H in the 1970's through cattle shows. My family lived down the road in Hartsville, TN. My father met him in the show barns as my dad was a 4-H leader. My brother and I showed heifers. Steve became a good friend to our family, showing us how to trim our heifers for the show ring and spreading his wit and humor amongst us all. He was always "dippin tobacco" , I will be keeping his loved ones in my prayers. Love from TN .”
